A piece of orange clay is rolled down to diameter of desired width of beak, and rolled down further at 1 end to make a point. Cone shape is cut to length of beak desired. A black ball of polymer clay is made. Base of orange beak is blended onto it. 2 clear seed beads are picked up individually with a pointed stick and pressed into head above beak. Stick is used to make 2 eye creases at right side of right eye and eyebrow over left eye. Repeat on other side. 2 flat oval pieces of orange clay are overlapped at 1 end and squished 1 on top of the other to make splayed feet. Small creases are made at end of feet to create impression of webbed toes. White clay is placed on top of overlapped end of feet to make body for penguin. Longer piece of black clay is flattened and shaped into oval. It's blended on white body at top. Bottom of orange feet is blended on overlying black tail. Turned upright, black tail is pinched a bit near base of body. Excess black clay is pinched off to create tiny pointed black tail. 2 small ovals of black clay are fashioned for wings. Pointed ends are pressed on sides of penguin and blended on penguin body. Head is placed on top of body and turned from side to side to blend into body. A toothpick can be inserted through top of body and used to steady and affix head. For female penguin, mix a bit of red clay with white to get pink, and roll it through number 3 setting on pasta machine. Cut out 2 small squares. Fold each over once to make rough triangle shape. Press folded point of the square together. Gently pull at curled ends by pinching them gently away from triangle. Overlap both pieces of clay so that pinched, pointed ends of triangles are overlapping. Blend together to make a bow. Affix a small ball of pink clay in middle of bow. Place on top of penguin's head. For male, make bow in blue. Affix under chin. Cover polymer clay penguin with translucent Liquid Sculpey to strengthen before baking.
